Meaning in short
Galatians 2:20 means that when a person trusts in Jesus, their old self-directed life is put to death with Christ, and Christ now lives in and through them. The Christian life is no longer about earning God's favor by self-effort, it is lived day by day by faith in the Son of God who loved us and gave himself for us. It is one of the clearest pictures of what union with Christ looks like from the inside.

A new life has replaced the old. Paul is not erased, but Christ is now the true source and center of his living, present within him by the Spirit.

Ordinary daily life, still lived in a physical body, is now sustained by trust in Jesus rather than by law-keeping or self-reliance.

The whole new life rests on Christ's personal love and self-sacrifice. Paul makes it personal, Jesus loved and gave himself for him individually.
Context
Paul writes Galatians to correct people who were being told they had to keep the law of Moses to be right with God. In chapter 2 he insists that we are justified by faith in Christ, not by works of the law. Verse 20 is his personal testimony of what that means: he has died to the old way of trying to earn acceptance, and now lives by faith in Jesus. So the verse is about grace and union with Christ, not about erasing who you are.
