The Bible does not tell us anger is always wrong, but it does warn us that human anger is quick to lead us astray and rarely produces the good we want. These verses call us to be slow to anger, gentle in our words, and quick to let go, trusting God rather than our own temper.
“So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger; for the anger of man doesn't produce the righteousness of God.” (WEB)
A simple order for our reactions: listen first, speak slowly, and go slow to anger, because our anger rarely produces what is right.

Anger itself is not automatically sin, but Paul warns against letting it linger and harden into bitterness.

Our words can cool a conflict or fuel it. A soft answer is often the wiser, more powerful choice.
“A fool vents all of his anger, but a wise man brings himself under control.” Wisdom restrains what folly lets loose.
Paul lists anger, wrath, and malice among the things to put away, like old clothes we take off in Christ.
“One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty.” Ruling your own spirit is a greater strength than conquering a city.
James 1:19 gives a practical rhythm to return to when tempers rise: be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger. When you feel the heat building, a gentle answer (Proverbs 15:1) and a short pause can change the whole direction of a conversation. Ephesians 4:26 is honest that anger will come, the goal is to keep it from turning into sin or settling into a grudge, so dealing with it quickly, and in prayer, keeps it from taking root.
